an attempt to summarize the lj year in copycat formation [Jan. 19th, 2007|02:13 am]
[Current Music |ella and kelly snoring]

except as it turns out not every month has a thingy posty thing. but the plan was to post the first sentence from the first entry of each month from the last year. here's a pathetic attempt.

JANUARY: while sometimes its nice to have a memory for dates like noneother, at the moment, i wish that portion of my memory had drifted away with much of the rest of my memory with all that pot smoking done in high school.....

FEBRUARY: for the first time all month long, I HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY MY ELECTRIC BILL!

MARCH: i'm getting irritated at this all-too-often-occurance.

APRIL: i've been a remarkably happy person in the last few months- really stoked on myself, stoked on what i'm doing.

MAY: what the FUCK kind of UNIVERSITY LIBRARY closes at 8PM on saturday night of FINALS WEEK and doesn't reopen until NOON the following day?!?!

JUNE: its 5:15am. i just got home from day 2 at the new job. i have to be at my other job (vet clinic) in 9 hours, better sleep.

JULY: so it ocurred to me that, although i check my friends page frequently on lj, i haven't posted much here

AUGUST: Hi everyone, my friend is calling for help in compiling a zine on being a trans-ally.

SEPTEMBER: the lifestyle i lead: i've noticed in my friendships that i tend to have a lot of good friends, and i tend to latch onto hanging out with a few of them A LOT for a few weeks at a time.

OCTOBER: my days keep getting weirder. somebody stop me before i eat my own feet and wash 'em down with a gallon of yellowtail.

NOVEMBER: nothing to see here. no entries.

DECEMBER: see above. haven't posted since oct.

in conclusion i've learned that my entries are rather dull. hmmm.....how can this be more exciting?!?

DRAG SHOW GATHERING/MEETING [Sep. 10th, 2006|04:30 pm]

Tomorrow (Monday, Sept 11, 2006) at 8pm we're meeting on the bottom floor of the Wood Center on campus, over where the comfy seats are where people pretend to study. Please please PLEASE try to make it if you're interested in being in/helping with the drag show! If you can't make it but want to be involved email me so I know.

so here's the details:

Myself, Joel, Hannah C, and Leah have all been toying with the idear of a drag show for a very very long time. It is time to make such a dream a reality!

We're aiming for Saturday, Oct. 7th (the next full moon), though we're still venue hunting. The goal is to provide an all ages venue the week prior to the Alaska Pride Conference in Anchorage.

This drag show, howevers, is not your ordinary drag show (oh no its not!), no no no, its a drag VARIETY show! Meaning: in addition to lip synching, choreographed, drag songs, but we also want skits, fashion shows, jugglers, fire dancers, drummers, musicians, burlesque dancers, gymnasts, people with odd and disturbing talents, joke tellers, contortionists, ventriloquists, and anything else that suits your fancy! We want as much variety as can be offered. We want music from all styles, idears from all brains! Stage-shy? We'll need folks with a knack for make-up art, lighting, set design, controlling-get-your-shit-together-organizers, artists, costumers, etc! We're also looking for djs for a before and after party type dancefest.

ALSO- you may have noticed that SDA is performing their shorts that night. Twoo, however, we're aiming for the drag show to start at TEN pm so that folks can go TO the shorts and THEN to the drag show!

SO: what I need from everyone! Show up or email me if you're interested. We're operating on a short timeline here, but I think we can pull it off, and I think we can rock it.

And SPREAD THE WORD like you heard that your boss was doin' your coworker: wildfire folks, start talkin' around this town about it! get the word out! I know a number of people who I'd like to get ahold of who I don't have email addresses for so please spread the word!

With that, show up. Monday, woodcenter. 8pm. bring your badass selves and some ideas!

love to you all.

aye, a thought on friends.... [Sep. 1st, 2006|12:28 am]
[Current Mood |confusedconfused]

the lifestyle i lead:

i've noticed in my friendships that i tend to have a lot of good friends, and i tend to latch onto hanging out with a few of them A LOT for a few weeks at a time. from then, it may be someone else i see daily and i may not see the first friends for weeks at a time, even though we sometimes get kicks of spending all our time together.

this has always been my pattern, and the good friends i've had growing up all seem to operate in the same manner.

i can go weeks and weeks without seeing leah or portia or nicole or marquetta or rachael or heidi or kyle or joel or whoever, and when i do see them, nothing has changed, we just have more to talk about. i've always had a group of friends that exist as vagabonds in our own towns.

its only been recently that in times when i disappear from a friend for weeks at a time, i'm accused of avoiding them, of not giving a shit, of being a liar and a terrible friend. and that hurts, because its never been my intention.

this only happens with people who didn't grow up here. is it an alaskan thing? i'm so accustomed to people taking off on the spur of the moment, leaving for months, even if they don't actually leave town. months later i'll get a call...

"baby i miss you. come get coffee with me"

and nothing's changed. adventures have been had and there are things we haven't told each other that we can talk about.

i'm not sure what to do. i've never really fought with my friends, nothing serious anyway (i'm sure i've irritated all of you at one point or another). but now i got an email from a friend i care about who, by no intentional reason, i haven't seen in a few weeks. i was informed that i'm a terrible friend. so here's someone i care about, and here's me not having a clue what to do, because i've never had these issues with a friend before.....

really, i'm having a blast. i wouldn't have known anything was wrong had i not gotten an email. i was just out at the pub, hanging out with a friend i haven't seen in months (nothing's changed) and dancing to hippie music with the old fairbanks crowd.

ramble ramble ramble. i've always considered myself to be a good friend. i have and i will drop everything when a friend is in need. i think i'm a good listener, i think i'm a good friend. this is really the first time in my life i've been told otherwise. i'm not sure what to do.

ah, sigh. i gotta go to bed. i have class early tomorrow.

why i don't smoke much pot these days [Aug. 30th, 2006|11:58 pm]
i just ate a pizza. not a slice. oh no. a pizza. minus a few slices. i feel gross. i'm a much healthier individual without weed.

after that, i watched 3 episodes of the x-files from 1996.

it was like being 14 all over again. pot, pizza, scully.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 5 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

"I continued my reading: Paracelsus, Jung, Einstein, Freud, Capra, and although I still know nothing, I am no longer a disciple of Fate. Fate. A spin on the Wheel of Fortune and out I tumbled at JOve's feet. Another dizzy round, and there is Stella waiting to help me off. But who is turning the wheel? Honest Guv', I had both hands tied behind my back."

Jeanette Winterson, "Gut Symmetries" on loan from the lovely Ms. Julia McCarthy. I put in 6 sentences because "Fate." is hardly a sentence.

Captain Jack Sparrow
Jack Sparrow is a colorufl character who has a sense of adventure and a knack for getting in trouble. He may seem crafty and self-centered, but he is really a good-hearted kind man who just happnes to be a rebel.
